Welcome Beloved!

Now that we’ve reached the midway point of the year, I’ve been taking intentional steps to finally finish projects I started around my house. About two years ago, the Most High God gave me a clear instruction: clean and declutter. Since then, I’ve been committed to working through my list, transforming my space, and tidying up my life.

Here’s the truth about personal transformation and stepping into a new chapter: you have to finish what you start. It’s not just about being productive; it’s about obedience.

So, as we dive into this mid-year reset, I have a question for you: What are the things you started at the beginning of the year—or maybe even last year or last decade—that still need to be completed?

The Power of Demolition in Life Transformation

One of my absolute favorite shows to watch used to be Married to Real Estate®️ with Egypt Sherrod and her husband, Mike Jackson. Every time they remodeled or upgraded a home, they followed a specific process: identify the plan, and then completely demolish, remove, or change the old to reveal a beautiful and functional space.

You cannot achieve true life transformation, home organization, or career growth without a solid plan and a willingness to do some demolition work. Removing the things that no longer work—whether it’s outdated plans, toxic habits, or crumbling mindsets—is the essential key to real change. This applies perfectly to reorganizing your life and preparing for your next chapter.

From Water Damage to Remarkable Transformation

Recently, I had some frustrating water damage on my upstairs ceiling. The heating system’s water drip pan was constantly overflowing, leaving ugly water spots that meant the whole system needed an upgrade. We had a heating company come out and fix the root problem.

However, for months, I just let the ceiling dry out. I walked past it every day, staring at the stain until I finally got completely sick and tired of looking at it. That’s when we called a contractor we had worked with before to repair the damaged sheetrock and paint over it.

After just two days, the company did a fantastic job. The workers complimented the chosen colors, they were impeccably neat, they cleaned up thoroughly, and they even asked for an evaluation of their service. I was so incredibly impressed by their work that we immediately hired them to paint our living area as well.y to real change. This applies perfectly to reorganizing your life and preparing for your next chapter.

The transformation was remarkable. It didn’t even look like we had ever had water damage. It was fabulous.

The Life Lesson: Change Requires Action

If I had just kept looking at that stained ceiling every time I walked up and down the stairs and done nothing about it, nothing would have ever changed. The transformation only happened when I became tired of the mess, made the decision to call the contractors, and saw the work through to completion.

It’s exactly the same for our lives, our homes, and our businesses. No change happens until you decide to make the change.

As Proverbs 16:3 (NIV) reminds us, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." We have to take that first step of commitment and action.

Furthermore, research supports the idea that completing tasks significantly impacts our well-being. A study on goal progression found that making progress on our goals is strongly associated with enhanced positive emotions and overall life satisfaction (Brunstein, 1993). Finishing what we start isn't just about crossing items off a list; it's fundamentally linked to our happiness.
