Dear Beautiful Friend,

If you had met me in my twenties, you would have thought I was absolutely winning. I had just landed a coveted role with the City of New York Department of Health, and I truly believed I had "arrived."

I was chasing a glittering illusion of success—swiping credit cards for name brands I couldn't afford, flashing a gold name ring, and exhausting myself trying to impress acquaintances I mistook for lifetime friends. I even bought brand-new, white faux-marble bedroom furniture for the room I still lived in at my parents' house, hoarding Victoria’s Secret bags because I thought 'chic and sexy' could be bought off a retail rack.

But behind closed doors? A hot mess.

Internally, my self-worth was at rock bottom, and my physical environment proved it. I’d come home, kick off my shoes, toss my clothes onto a chair already drowning under a mountain of laundry, and run right back out the door. No cleaning. No cooking. No focus. No responsibility.

I was surviving, not thriving. I lacked substance and a real-life strategy—but I had a hidden superpower: I instinctively knew how to organize and beautify spaces. I just wasn't using it to save my own life.

For years, I ignored my gift until financial hardship hit me like a freight train.

The struggle was exhausting, but here is the beautiful thing about hitting rock bottom: when you are forced into a corner, your mind gets creative. You stop making excuses, you analyze every misstep, and you realize exactly how much better you can do.

At work, I watched coworkers constantly crying about being 'broke' while borrowing cash they never intended to repay. That was my wake-up call. I realized that if I wanted my life to change, I had to change my environment—and the circle I allowed around me.

I once posted on Instagram: Some people are part of your history, not your destiny.”

That was the absolute truth for my life. I was done romanticizing the hustle. Struggle was my history. It was not going to be my destiny.

In 2020, at 44 years old, I finally drew a line in the sand. I stopped trying to force control over things that weren't mine. I stopped carrying burdens that belonged to others. I stopped neglecting my own soul. Instead of waiting for a human savior, I anchored myself in Jesus. I shifted my mindset from a posture of lack to absolute alignment with the promises of Deuteronomy 28. I tracked every penny, bought with intention, and prayed with fire.

I created a concrete plan, because without one, I was failing—fast. I didn't just manage my money; I stewarded my entire life.

Science backs this up. Psychological research proves that implementing structured time-management and organization strategies dramatically slashes stress and restores your sense of control (Waller et al., 2022). Even better? The Word backed it up first: "The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty" (Proverbs 21:5).

I stepped out of the chaos and claimed my identity as a woman of intentional living.

I learned how to lock in, declutter my life, and conquer exhaustion through the sheer power of a strategic system. I learned to say a protective, unapologetic "no" to anything—and anyone—that didn’t align with God’s purpose for me. No shade—just boundaries.
